ABOUT MARTINĀ ROBERTĀ SANCHEZ

Designer, educator, and theatre artist, Martin is currently the resident costume designer, shop manager, and teacher of stage design at the University of Dallas. He recently relocated back to Texas after completing his MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Washington. As a Latinx educator in the Texas public school system for fifteen years, he is often inspired by the diverse tapestry of culture, magic realism, and nature. Martin is a past recipient of the Marvin Sims Foundation to study at the Kennedy Center Design Intensive (KCACTF); was awarded the Artist Foundation Grant for Costume Design from the San Antonio Office of Cultural Affairs, and has received the Dallas Theatre Center “Project Discovery Grant” for his students for the past five years. Martin is eager be back home in Dallas, where he can spend time with his husband, and two fur daughters, Marley and June.
